Making the invisible Christ visible in the greater Danbury area and around the world.

Just as God became flesh in Jesus, so Jesus sends us to flesh out his life and love to others. In simplest terms, we are a Christ-centered, multi-generational congregation with a high commitment to Holy Scripture. A primary distinctive of our congregation, since its inception, has been its friendly, caring fellowship. We are a congregation where people are welcomed and loved.

Ours is a church orthodox in doctrine (we affirm the great creeds of Christendom); evangelical in persuasion (we believe people can know God personally through Jesus Christ); ecumenical in relationships (we want love for God's family to mark our church); incarnational in ministry (we believe ministry is best fleshed out via personal relationships); and global in outreach (we believe the world is our parish).

Our worship style is decidedly contemporary. Though we do not neglect the great hymnody of the past, our focus has a more contemporary ring to it than a traditional one. The preaching in our services aims at expounding and applying the Bible which we believe to be relevant as well as reliable.

We are also committed to building community via small groups and committed teams here at Walnut Hill. Our goal is that we be a church of small groups not just a church with small groups.

Our children and youth ministries (preschool through college) are known throughout the area. Though we appeal to all ages, Walnut Hill has been particularly effective at attracting young families.

We are a congregation that is sensitive to world missions and to the unchurched in our area. The faith-promise missions budget equals approximately 25% of our operations budget.

Walnut Hill Community Church is located in the greater Danbury area in southwestern Connecticut. Danbury, itself, is a city of 73,000 people and is surrounded by ten towns of 15,000-25,000 people each. Bethel, where we are located, is one of those towns.

There are four services each weekend, one on Saturday, two on Sunday morning, and one on Sunday evening in a Worship Center seating 700. Weekend attendance, at present, is averaging 1200 people.

We are one and a half hours north of New York City, an hour west of Hartford, and three hours southwest of Boston. The area itself serves as a bedroom community for a number of major corporations located nearby. This corporate factor makes us a more transient congregation but it also means that we have the privilege of serving people from all over the U.S. and the opportunity of equipping people for service around the world.

Walnut Hill has great potential for ministry in the days ahead. If you are moving to our area or just around for the weekend, you are more than welcome to visit. Our prayers are that God will use us as we seek "to make the invisible Christ visible in the greater Danbury area and around the world."
